Task Force statement on the Secret Service Mission Assurance Review

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump released the following statement on the U.S. Secret Service's Mission Assurance Review, which was released to committees of jurisdiction this week.
The review details the agency's security failures and overall response during the July 13 Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where one person was killed and three others, including the former President, were injured. This Review is limited to the security failures and is not intended to address critical questions about the shooter.
"The Secret Service’s Mission Assurance Review offers answers that align with the Task Force’s own investigation into the agency’s security failures on July 13. Many of the steps to improve security outlined in the Review appear to be headed in the right direction.
"However, the Secret Service still needs to take additional steps to create accountability and ensure that the mistakes that occurred on July 13 are not repeated."
